By now you probably know I am passionate about my job as a health coach. I practically take on any job that I think will further my mission of getting families healthy! I also say yes to MANY volunteer opportunities. I had 2 such opportunities this week- I got to teach healthy cooking with the high schoolers at my alma mater and I got to co-host a kids wellness workshop with Emily Cohen, founder of My Life My Menu.
At our workshop, Emily did an amazing job of describing exactly what should go into a lunchbox with food and portion suggestions and even containers and ice packs! This workshop was full of information, including an extensive better- for kids snack list. On my end, I talked about my own journey, about lessons I've learned from my own kids and tips I've picked up from the experts in the field (Make sure to check out my resource guide on this blog for some of my favorite books on the subject of kids health!) The number one message for moms is NEVER GIVE UP!
Earlier in the week, I spoke to highschoolers about career paths, healthy living and we made some granola parfaits together. Find granola recipe here! Heres what school had to say about the cooking class as well as some shots from our workshop! For more kid's lunch ideas, follow my Pinterest Board with dozens of shots of easy to make lunches!
