It seems like just yesterday I brought my baby home from the hospital. We snuggled all day, she happily breast fed while I binge watched lots of Netflix- those were the days!
Now at 5 1/2 months old, I’m looking toward the future- at feeding her, that is! I set up my high chair, I’ve read my books and even took a course on baby led weaning (more on this coming soon!)
The one thing I know is that it’s about to get WAY messier up in here! This week, I whipped up a quick DIY high chair cleaner which I’m sure I’ll have to refill repeatedly!
Because babies eat directly off the high chair, we need to be especially vigilant in using non toxic products. Standard cleaners contain known hormone disrupters which can severely mess with kid’s rates of puberty and even fertility later on. Plus, conventional cleaners contain ingredients that may cause cancer and almost surely cause respiratory and allergenic problems.
This cleaner is so easy to make and has so many applications beyond just for the high chair. I cleaned my daughters toys with it and even the windows and kitchen island!
DIY Non- Toxic High Chair Cleaner
1 cup water
1/3 cup vinegar
1 tablespoon Non Toxic dish soap , such as Sal’s Suds 30 drops citrus essential oil (lemon or tangerine are my favorite)
Mix all ingredients in a 16 oz glass spray bottle (always use glass when working with essential oils!) Shake well before each use.
